Practice your English outside the classroom!
At Access English Toronto, we strongly believe that learning doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom. In fact, we are convinced that a well-planned leisure and activities program is an essential part of the language-learning process. We know that combining education with fun experiences leads to faster progress and more lasting results.
Our exciting learning through leisure program offers many valuable benefits:
- It helps you improve your English by speaking with native speakers and locals in real situations. You practice your English naturally, outside of textbooks and classrooms.
- It deepens your understanding of Canadian culture and traditions, making it easier to grasp the language.
- It helps you make new friends from around the world—friendships that can last a lifetime.
- It keeps you energized, motivated, and happy—ensuring you stay engaged in your academic studies.
A successful learning through leisure program:
- helps you learn how to speak English with native English speakers.
- gives you varied opportunities to practice English with other people in real situations.
- broadens your horizons and experience of life.
At Access English Toronto, we believe that learning a language should be fun. That’s why every Friday afternoon, our Activities Coordinator or your teacher will take you and your classmates on trips to interesting places and join you in exciting activities around Toronto.
Some possible trips/activities include:
- CN Tower
- Royal Ontario Museum
- maple syrup farm
- making Canadian pancakes
- Pioneer Village

- water slide park
- ice skating
- and many more!
These afternoon trips are a great time to get to know your classmates and teachers. With our English only rule, our trips and activities give you the perfect chance to practice your English… the natural way!
Evening Activities
Meet people! At Access English Toronto, we want our students to get to know each other and enjoy their stay in Canada to the fullest. That’s why we help arrange regular special activities. Students can get together to enjoy a movie, have a beer at a bar, watch a video, play baseball, as well as many other exciting events.
Some of our activities also include Canadian-style traditional parties. In October come to our Halloween party where you can dress up in a costume. And at our Christmas carolling party, together we can have fun singing Christmas songs to Canadian families at their homes.
We have a wide variety of activities to choose from, so if you don’t want to do one thing, you can do something else. Participation in our activities is optional, but if you want to understand Canadians and their way of life, this is your chance!
Educational Learning Trips – Explore, Learn, and Improve Your English
At our school, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. That’s why we organize Educational Learning Trips in Toronto approximately every two months, giving students the opportunity to explore the city while improving their English language skills and gaining a deeper understanding of Canadian culture.
Each trip is carefully planned to include locations with an educational and cultural component. Past destinations have included:
- The Ontario Legislature (Parliament) – learn about Canadian democracy and government.
- The University of Toronto – discover one of Canada’s top universities.
- The Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) – Grad X Exhibition – experience creativity and innovation through art.
- Toronto City Hall – explore an architectural icon and civic landmark.
- etc.
Hands-on learning experience
Our educational tours in Toronto are more than sightseeing. Students enjoy guided tours led by official representatives (except at OCAD, where they explore the exhibition). The goal is to give students real-world exposure and a chance to use English in authentic situations—an opportunity they might not have without our program.
Developing English and presentation skills
Before each trip, students receive a presentation task with clear expectations, including:
- Specific topics and questions to answer
- Key vocabulary and grammar structures to use
- Public speaking techniques such as pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, hand gestures, and eye contact
During the trip, students take effective notes. The following day, they prepare and rehearse their presentations - either individually or in pairs - under the guidance of their teacher. Presentations are graded, and teachers provide personalized feedback to help students improve their communication and confidence.
Why students love our trips
Students consistently give excellent feedback about these educational excursions. They not only improve their English fluency and public speaking skills, but also gain a richer, more diverse perspective of life in Canada. Many say these trips are among the most memorable parts of their Canadian study experience.
