Where
do ACCESS students come from? |
|
- ACCESS students come from many different countries
around the world, and we are very
careful not to accept
too many students
from one country.
- ACCESS' nationality mix is as follows: 30 - 40%
students from Asia, 20 - 25% students from Mexico
and South
America, 15% students from Europe, 5 - 10% students
from the Middle East, and 10 - 15% from other countries.
|
Does ACCESS have computers ? |
|
| Yes! ACCESS has a modern, well-equipped
computer lab with one computer for every 3 to 4 students.
We offer high speed internet, computers with multilingual
capability, and are a WiFi Hotspot. Bring along your
laptop and surf the internet wirelessly from anywhere
in the school! ACCESS is an official TOEFL Testing Centre.
Our computers are used every weekend to administer the
TOEFL test to students from around Toronto. |
What's the most important rule at ACCESS ? |
|
"ENGLISH
ONLY!"
We do not allow students to speak other languages at
any time during, between, or after classes while at
the centre,
or during a trip or activity. All students sign a contract
on their first day of school agreeing to speak English
and only English.
|
Can I study part-time? on weekends? in the evening
? |
|
Yes. We offer part-time English
programs in the mornings and afternoons (10 lessons
per week). We do not offer evening or weekend classes.
|
How long does it take to get a student visa ? |
|
Usually less than 6 weeks, but
in some countries it can take up to 3 months, so apply
early!
|
What happens if my visa application is rejected? |
|
Don't worry. Simply send the
original rejection letter from the Canadian Embassy to
ACCESS, along with the original copy of your Letter of
Acceptance, and we will fully refund all payments (excluding
application fee and homestay placement fee).
Note: If you notify ACCESS about the visa rejection
less than 14 days before your course start date, there
will be a $200 cancellation charge.
|
What is the best accommodation choice ? |
|
Most students choose to live
with a Canadian family (homestay). We always recommend
homestay as the best choice for our students because:
- You will learn English quickly by practicing with
your host family.
- Homestay is much cheaper, safer, and less complicated
than renting an apartment or hotel room.
- You will learn much more about Canada and Canadian
culture by living in a homestay.
Other possible accommodation options include:
- Student residence
- furnished apartment
|
Do I need medical insurance? |
|
Yes! Every ACCESS student must
have medical insurance. Healthcare in Canada is expensive.
Medical insurance is required in case of emergency.
You can buy your own insurance, or ACCESS can arrange
it for you. We use a very reasonably priced, comprehensive
medical insurance plan for international students called
"Student Guard" at a cost of CAN $2.50 per
day. If you would like ACCESS to arrange medical insurance,
please notify us in your application, or send
us an e-mail.
|
How long will it take for me to learn English? |
|
Every student is different.
Some students learn very quickly, while others take longer
to learn. If you want to make a noticeable improvement
in your English level, you should study at least 3
months. The average length of study for ACCESS students
is between 3 - 6 months.
|
How many levels does ACCESS have ? |
|
We have 7 levels from beginner
to advanced. All students are given a placement test
on
the first day of classes. We group students according
to ability. Our teachers will carefully assess your
strengths
and weaknesses and design lessons that will help you
to improve. Because we are small, we are able to easily
customize
our lessons to suit each particular student's needs.
|
When do I have to pay my fees ? |
|
| When you fill out the Application
form, you must pay the non-refundable CAN $125 application
fee. We will not process any applications until we receive
the non-refundable application fee.
You
must pay a minimum CAN $2000 (or the full
amount) to reserve your place and receive our institution's
Letter
of Acceptance. All fees are due BEFORE beginning classes.
