Meet our Teachers

ACCESS teachers are experienced and professional.  They are university graduates, native English speakers,  and hold Canadian government-approved certification in TESL (Teaching English As A Second Language).  ACCESS teachers have exposure to teaching English overseas, as well as extensive experience teaching English to students of a variety of nationalities, ages, and abilities.  At ACCESS you will be in classes with students of many different nationalities.

ACCESS teachers understand the subtle differences in approach needed when teaching multinational classes ie: a Japanese student versus a Mexican student. They possess the knowledge and strategies required to get the most out of each and every student. Your teachers will care about you and will take an active interest in helping you to improve your English to the best of your ability. At ACCESS, you will have the opportunity to achieve your full potential in English.

I have over 10 years of ESL teaching experience in both Canada and abroad. I have taught a wide range of learning levels, ages, and cultural backgrounds,  and I bring this experience and knowledge to the classroom to create a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

One of my passions is travelling.  I believe this has helped me become a better ESL teacher as it has given me a better cultural understanding of many students. I have travelled extensively throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America and Canada. I have also travelled to Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. I use my travelling experience to teach with the understanding that the goals, backgrounds, expectations, and perspectives of each student are different, and that a classroom must represent this in order for a successful environment to be achieved.

I believe that in cross-curricular education, learning does not only happen in the classroom. I love sharing my knowledge of Toronto and Canada with my students so they are able to maximize their cultural understanding of the English Language and life in Canada.  I am passionate about my hometown of Toronto and the natural regions of Canada and I share this enthusiasm with students to encourage them to experience these places too. I believe an effective teacher should help students with issues in and out of the classroom as best they can and encourage student’s learning to achieve success.

Teaching experience

I taught the Ontario Curriculum for one year in the Toronto District School Board.

I also taught reading, writing, listening, speaking and communication skills for over 5 years in Keelung, Taiwan.

I have worked in both private ESL language schools and as a private ESL tutor in Toronto for over 4 years.
